This mug, featuring my original rendition of the Velveteen Rabbit and Skin Horse, is the January mug exclusive. It features the quote:
"Once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand."
I absolutely LOVE this story because it talks about the value of exposing yourself to love, even when love might turns out to hurt a little bit. The Velveteen Rabbit is a stuffed animal who wants to know what makes a thing 'turn real.' The Skin Horse advises that it isn't until your hair is rubbed off and you become a little scruffy all around that you become a genuine, real person. Today's society encourages us to keep ourselves away from others who might hurt us. We're encouraged to set up boundaries faster that we're encouraged to be willing to take a chance and risk ourselves for the sake of valuable, priceless love.
This mug was made with a few friends in mind who have proven to be the loyalest and best of friends. Cheers to deep rooted friendships who have stood the test of time, making us a little worse for wear on the outside perhaps, but gloriously valuable and beautiful to one another just the same.
The mug is dishwasher and microwave safe, and is great for hot or cold liquids. The interior and handle are both colored umber (a reddish/brown color). It holds approximately 11 oz. of liquid.
