The Princess And The Goblin Watercolor Art Print (George MacDonald)
This print is created using fine art giclée processes on velvet watercolor paper made from 100% cotton fiber. The paper stock is extremely thick with a naturally textured surface for a premium presentation, and may be displayed standalone or in a 5x7" frame. It features my original illustration of the Princess and her very dear and very old grandmother. I love this quote which reads:
"We are all very anxious to be understood, and it is very hard not to be. But there is one thing much more necessary: To understand other people."
In this modern world we hear a clattering and clambering from all sorts of people who want to be heard and want to be known. Their way of getting people to like them isn't a very calm method and I think this quote points out the need for sacrifice of self in a way the modern audience has forgotten and fails to grasp. It is okay to want to be known. But it is more important sometimes to listen for understanding.
Winston Churchill said it another way. He said:
"Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen."
