The Bronte Sisters Coffee Mug (Anne, Emily, Charlotte)
$15.00
The Bronte Sisters were a mysterious force of nature. Originally they slaved away at their work and hid their identities behind male pen names, as female authors were not quite as well accepted in society as they are in today's world. Writing of both pleasure and pain, their works are darker literature than some would prefer but their characters so strong and memorable that it's hard not to like sisters for the worlds which they so expertly created. They had a brilliant way of comparing and contrasting darkness and light within people that it makes their stories very engaging, whether you wish to be engaged or not! This mug celebrates their success as writers but also their skill in understanding humanity and painting vivid pictures which have stood the test of at least a bit of time. Raise a glass in their honor!
This mug features my watercolor illustrations of the Bronte sisters along with the following quote, from Anne's book "The Tenant of Wildfell Hall":
"Smiles and tears are so alike with me, they are neither of them confined to any particular feelings: I often cry when I am happy, and smile when I am sad."
This mug is available in standard 11oz coffee mug size, as well as an extra-large 15oz mug with a more hefty feel, being nearly 5" tall. Both sizes are dishwasher and microwave safe, and are great for hot or cold liquids. The handle and interior are colored green.
