I first read The Scarlet Pimpernel in high school and have read it many times since. My friends and I enjoyed watching the 1982 screen version on multiple occasions, a movie I find to be something of a cult classic among the literary.
There are a thousand good lines to quip and quote from this book but I decided to stick with a basic rhyme which all who know of the Scarlet Pimpernel can easily quote from memory. Is there a more intriguing character in all of literature, one who is willing to play the fool for a greater good? Not many men would be willing to do this and that is one of the reasons I think Sir Percy is such an interesting and entertaining character. There are multiple depths to be explored with this book!
